First Step Centre

A safe space to grow, learn, and play – and picture a better future

The First Step Center (FSC) was launched in 2002 as a safe space for children to come during the day. Most of the children who visit the FSC live on the street or come from abusive homes and are typically between the ages of 5-12 years old.

Children who come through are able to receive hygiene care, including haircuts for lice, toothbrushes, showers, and clean clothes. They also receive nutritious meals when they are at the Center and can engage with one another and staff in crafts and games.

Sticky Love

“What is one thing you learned at Hope House that will stick with you forever?” “To love people and not expect anything back from them.”  Three pieces fit together to form Hope House Two one night: the aroma of homemade pizza, and a decibel of noise only a house...

A House That Changes Hearts
